DAILY DEVOTIONAL – Saturday, February 28, 2015
Going through rivers of difficulty will either cause you to drown or force you to grow stronger. If you go in your own strength, you are more likely to drown. If you invite the Lord to go with you, he will protect you. (NLT)
Isaiah 43:1-7 – But now O Israel, the Lord who created you says: “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt, Ethiopia, and Seba as a ransom for your freedom. Others died that you might live. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.
“Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will gather you and your children from east and west and from north and south. I will bring my sons and daughters back to Israel from the distant corners of the earth. All who claim me as their God will come, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.”
Paul wrote, “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can’t, and life cant’. The angels can’t, and the demons can’t. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can’t keep God’s love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)
Michael Arnum (Massachusetts) titled his story “ACCEPTING CHANGE.” Here is a portion of Michael’s story:
“. . . We often don’t see ‘the big picture’ in life; only God does. Change can bring about anxiety and fear, until we recognize that God is with us in the midst of all change.
“Letting go of fear begins when we trust in God. When change comes, we can ask what we may learn from the situation. We can look for what God might be trying to teach us, which can lessen our resistance to change. And we can pray that we will be able to cope with change and allow God to guide us through it.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – Fear decreases as faith increases.
Prayer: O God, walk with us today and be our guide through whatever changes may come. Amen.
