DAILY DEVOTIONAL – Tuesday, October 13, 2015

Today’s scripture reading:

Going through rivers of difficulty will either cause you to drown or force you to grow stronger. If you go in your own strength, you are more likely to drown. If you invite the Lord to go with you, he will protect you.

Isaiah was speaking primarily of Israel’s return from Babylon. But there is a broader meaning: All God’s people will be regathered when Christ comes to rule in peace over the earth. (NLT)

Isaiah 43:1-7 – But now, O Israel, the Lord who created you says: “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown! When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I gave Egypt, Ethiopia, and Seba as a ransom for your freedom. Others died that you might live. I traded their lives for yours because you are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you.

“Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I will gather you and your children from east and west and from north and south. I will bring my sons and daughters back to Israel from the distant corners of the earth. All who claim me as their God will come, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them.”

Fear Not for I am with you

Janine Randell (New South Wales, Australia) titled her story “GOD IS WITH US;” here is a portion of Janine’s story:

“. . . We will pass through waters and walk through fire; but God promises, ‘I am the Lord your God . . . your Savior. . . . Do not fear, for I am with you.’ We can trust in God because God is faithful. When we realize what God has done for us, we don’t need to be afraid of whatever disasters happen in the world. . . .”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – God is always with us.
