DAILY DEVOTIONAL – Sunday, March 13, 2016
Today’s scripture reading:
We’re all encouraged by a leader who stirs us to move ahead, someone who believes we can do the task he has given and who will be with us all the way. God is that kind of leader. He knows the future, and his plans for us are good and full of hope. As long as God, who knows the future, provides our agenda and goes with us as we fulfill his mission, we can have boundless hope. This does not mean that we will be spared pain, suffering, or hardship, but that God will see us through to a glorious conclusion. (NLT)
Jeremiah 29:10-14 – “The truth is that you will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. For I knew the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and bring you home again to your own land.”
“I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
Julia Jones Price (Tennessee) titled her story “THE NEXT MOUNTAIN RANGE;” here is a portion of Julia’s story:
“. . . Regardless of age, any of us can worry about the future. I learned from my experience of the ‘missing’ mountain ridges that even when I cannot see them, I can know that God has plans for our future. And though the future will bring challenges, we can be assured that God will be there to see us through them.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – During each stage of my journey, God will be with me.
Prayer: Dear Father, we thank you for the future, whatever may come. We are blessed to know that you will be with us through both happy and difficult times. We pray in the name of your son, Jesus. Amen.
