DAILY DEVOTIONAL – Wednesday, August 3, 2016

Today’s scripture reading:

People often find it easy to dismiss the opinions of the elderly and avoid taking time to visit with them. But the fact that God commanded the Israelites to show respect for the elderly shows how seriously we should take the responsibility of respecting those older than we are. Their wisdom gained from experiencer can save us from many pitfalls. (NLT)

Leviticus 19:32-37 – “Show your fear of God by standing up in the presence of elderly people and showing respect for the aged. I am the Lord.

“Do not exploit the foreigners who live in your land. They should be treated like everyone else, and you must love them as you love yourself. Remember that you were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. I, the Lord, am your God.

“Do not use dishonest standards when measuring length, weight, or volume. Your scales and weights must be accurate. Your containers for measuring dry goods or liquids must be accurate. I, the Lord, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt. You must be careful to obey all my laws and regulations, for I am the Lord.”
