Today’s scripture reading:
We have significant privileges associated with our new life in Christ: (1) We have personal access to God through Christ and can draw near to him without an elaborate system; (2) We may grow in faith, overcome doubts and questions, and deepen our relationship with God; (3) we may enjoy encouragement from one another; (4) we may worship together. (NLT)
Hebrews 10:19-25 – And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. This is the new, life-giving way that Christ has opened up for us through the sacred curtain, by means of his death for us.
And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s people, let us go right into the presence of God, with true hearts fully trusting him. For our evil consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.
Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. –Hebrews 10:23-24 (NIV)
Mark Quick (California) titled his story “STEADFAST MOTIVATION;” here is a portion of Mark’s story:
“. . . Jesus is faithful, and he encourages us to follow him – step-by-step – with steadfast trust. Whenever we talk to people we encounter, we can encourage acts of love. With Jesus as our model, we can always seek – through our words and deeds – to overcome evil with god. . . .”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – Today I will celebrate God’s promises by encouraging others.
Prayer: Dear God, fill our hearts with your faithfulness and love, and help us to motivate and encourage others. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Prayer Focus: THOSE WHO NEED ENCOURAGEMENT
