Today’s scripture reading:

The Israelites had no excuse for abandoning God. He had shielded them like a kindly shepherd. He had guarded them like a person protects the pupil (apple) of is eye. He had been the encircling protector, like a mother eagle who protects her young. The Lord alone had led them. And he alone leads us. Let us remember to trust in him. (NLT)

Deuteronomy 32:7-11 – “Remember the days of long ago; think about the generations past. Ask your father and he will inform you. Inquire of your elders, and they will tell you. When the Most High assigned lands to the nations, when he divided up the human race, he established the boundaries of the peoples according to the boundaries of the peoples according to the number of angelic beings. For the people of Israel belong to the Lord; Jacob is his special possession.

“He found them in a desert land, in an empty, howling wasteland. He surrounded them and watched over them; he guarded them as his most precious possession. Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over your young, so he spread his wings to take them in and carried them aloft on his pinions.

The Lord said, “I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” –Exodus 19:4 (NIV)

Jayna Richardson (Arkansas) titled her story “THE PERFECT PARENT;” here is a portion of Jayna’s story:

“. . . God’s love is deeper, stronger, and more perfect than a human parent’s love could ever be. As God’s beloved children, we can lean into that love and receive help to be the people God calls us to be.”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – God is our perfect parent who shows us how to love.

Prayer: Gracious God, thank you for your deep and unconditional love. Help us to love others the way you love us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
