Today’s scripture reading:
God’s power and strength never diminish. He is never too tired or too busy to help and listen. His strength is our source of strength. When you feel all of life crushing you and you cannot go another step, remember that you can call upon God to renew your strength.
Waiting on the Lord is the patient expectation that God will fulfill his promises. [His Word will strengthen us to rise above life’s difficulties.] It means to completely trust in God. (NLT)
Isaiah 40:28-31 – Have you never heard or understood? Don’t you know that the Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the Lord will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. –Psalm 37:4 (NIV)
Meg Mangan (New South Wales, Australia) titled her story “IN GOD’S OWN TIME;” here is a portion of Meg’s story:
“A friend gave me a pretty arrangement of flowers in various shades of orange. . . . However, the arrangement also contained the buds of three large lilies, and I found myself waiting impatiently for them to unfold and complete the effect. . . . Then the first of the lilies bloomed. It was worth the wait . . .
“This made me think of how often we may become impatient and want all God’s plans for us to unfold now. And then I realized that if the buds had been flowering when I first received the arrangement, I probably would have taken the lilies for granted. . . . Sometimes God is waiting for the right moment to bless us until we are fully ready to accept and appreciate the gift prepared for us.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – God’s gifts are worth waiting for.
Prayer: Loving God, give us patience to appreciate all that you are and all the gifts that you pour out on us. Amen.
