Today’s scripture reading:
David’s praise focused on God’s glorious deeds. It is easy to complain about life, but David’s list gives us plenty for which to praise God: He forgives our sins, heals our diseases, redeems us from death, crowns us with love and compassion, satisfies our desires, and gives righteousness and justice. We receive all of these without deserving any of them. No matter how difficult your life’s journey, you can always count your blessings—past, present, and future. When you feel as though you have nothing for which to praise God, read David’s list. (NLT)
Psalm 103:1-12 – Praise the Lord, I tell myself; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, I tell myself, and never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He ransoms me from death and surrounds me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. My youth is renewed like the eagle’s! The Lord gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly. He revealed his character to Moses and his deeds to the people of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious; he is slow to get angry and full of unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He has not punished us for all our sins, nor does he deal with us as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our rebellious acts as far away from us as the east is from the west.
Jo Len Everhart (Idaho) titled her story “GREAT EXPECTATIONS;” here is a portion of Jo Len’s story:
“. . . We cannot reach God through our own efforts – by being good enough or earning our way. But God created a wholly unexpected way of salvation. We can come freely into God’s presence because of what Jesus has done.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – I live by faith, not by sight.
Prayer: Dear Lord, we can never fully understand your ways, but we know you love us more than we can comprehend. Help us respond to your love and trust you in all circumstances. Amen.
Prayer Focus: SOMEONE LEARNING TO TRUST GOD
