May you find comfort, encouragement, guidance, hope, inspiration, love, and peace – May you also find answers to your question(s) through the Scriptures that address every situation you face, and help with your problems. Deb

Dear Lord, open our hearts and our minds to the power of Your Word, that as we read, we may know, understand, and obey Your Word for us today. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. (author unknown)

Today’s scripture reading:

Many people don’t want their lives exposed to God’s light because they are afraid of what will be revealed. They don’t want to be changed. Don’t be surprised when these same people are threatened by your desire to obey God and do what is right, because they are afraid that the light in you may expose some of the darkness in their lives. Rather than giving in to discouragement, keep praying that they will come to see how much better it is to live in light than in darkness. (NLT)

John 3:16-21 – [Jesus said] “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.

“There is no judgment awaiting those who trust him. But those who do not trust him have already been judged for not believing in the only Son of God. Their judgment is based on this fact: The light from heaven came into the world, but they loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. They hate the light because they want to sin in the darkness. They stay away from the light for fear their sins will be exposed and they will be punished. But those who do what is right come to the light gladly, so everyone can see that they are doing what God wants.”

God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. –John 3:16 (NIV)

Alisha Ritchie (North Carolina) titled her story “FLOWER PIES;” here is a portion of Alisha’s story:

“When I was young, I could have won a medal for making fantastic ‘flower pies.’ . . . I vividly remember picking the prettiest, most colorful blossoms in Grandma’s yard. She never once complained that I was wasting her most beautiful flowers on my creative projects. She willingly sacrificed her best to make me happy.

“The love my grandma shared with me reminds me of God’s selfless love. God gave up the very best for us also – God’s son, Jesus Christ, so that we could have eternal life. God demonstrated how to be self-denying and gave us a pattern of selfless love. When we put another’s needs, comfort, or happiness before our own, we are reflecting the true love God shows each of us.”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – God gave the very best for me. How can I give my best for others?

Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to show selfless love to others as you have done for us. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
