Dear Lord, open our hearts and our minds to the power of Your Word, which as we read, we may know, understand, and obey Your Word for us today. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. (Author unknown)

Today’s scripture reading:

The men did not know whether they would be delivered from the fire; all they knew was that they would not fall down and worship an idol.   Are you ready to take a stand for God no matter what? When you stand for God, you will stand out. Be prepared to say, “If he rescues me, or if he doesn’t, I will serve only God.” (NLT)

Honor Him with our actions and our attitudes

Daniel 3:13-18 – Then Nebuchadnezzar flew into a rage and ordered Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be brought before him. When they were brought in, Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you refuse to serve my gods or to worship the gold statue I have set up? I will give you one more chance. If you bow down and worship the statue I have made when you hear the sound of the musical instruments, all will be well. But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the blazing furnace. What god will be able to rescue you from my power then?”

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. But even if he doesn’t, Your Majesty can be sure that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up.”

The Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. –Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)

Felix Kwabena Donkor (Gauteng, South Africa) titled his story “GOD OF THE NOMAD;” here is a portion of Felix’s story:

“. . . Traveling to a new place can come with anxiety and fear of the unknown. . . . However, new environments can also offer opportunities to deepen our faith, as seen in the life of Abram when God asked him to leave his home to go to a strange land. . . . In the end, what really matters is that we endeavor to follow God’s will wherever God leads us.

“The Bible has been my companion through all my journeys, helping me to look to God, to study, and to focus on God’s word rather than on my environment. Choosing to trust and focus on God’s never-failing love and provision can strengthen us for all the changes of life.”

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – I can trust and obey the Lord wherever I am.

Prayer: Dear God, teach us to trust and obey you no matter what our circumstances may be. Amen.
