Dear Lord, open our hearts and our minds to the power of Your Word, which as we read, we may know, understand, and obey Your Word for us today. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. (Author unknown)
Today’s scripture reading:
That is why we have a great High Priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of God. Let us cling to Him . . . never stop trusting Him. –Hebrews 4:14 (NLT)
. . . Christ is always at God’s right hand, interceding for us. He is always available to hear us when we pray.
Prayer is our approach to God, and we are to come “boldly.” Some Christians approach God meekly with heads hung low, afraid to ask Him to meet their needs. Others pray flippantly, giving little thought to what they say. Come with reverence because he is your King. But also come with bold assurance because He is your Friend and Counselor. (NLT)
Hebrews 4:13-16 – Nothing in all creation can hide from him. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes. This is the God to whom we must explain all that we have done.
That is why we have a great High Priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of God. Let us cling to him and never stop trusting him. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it.
Quoted verse: Jesus said, “The water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” –John 4:14 (NIV)
“Story” – Pauline Lewis (South Wales, United Kingdom) titled her story “JOY IN GOD;” here is a portion of Pauline’s story:
“. . . I know that God wants me to experience such joy when I draw near. My very best Friend is always waiting to welcome me, but I am so often slow to set aside time to draw near, to come with the confidence of a child.
“Yes, we may experience deep joy, even in earthly relationships, but we can be assured that if we come to God we will know a well of living water from deep within, springing up into everlasting life.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – Drawing near to God can fill me with incomparable joy.
Prayer: Thank you, loving God, for inviting us to come to you with confidence and boldness. Amen.
