Dear Lord, open our hearts and our minds to the power of Your Word, which as we read, we may know, understand, and obey Your Word for us today.  We pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen.  (Author unknown)

Today’s scripture reading:

The title of today’s post, “Our Creator wants to speak to us every day,” was inspired by the story in The Upper Room, see below.

Children are able to trust and praise God without doubts or reservations.  As we get older, many of us find this more and more difficult to do.  Ask God to give you childlike faith, removing any barriers to having a closer walk with him.  (NLT)

Psalm 8:1-9 – O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!  Your glory is higher than the heavens.  You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength, silencing your enemies and all who oppose you.

When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—the moon and the stars you set in place—what are mere mortals that you should think about them, human beings that you should care for them?  Yet you made them only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor.  You gave them charge of everything you made, putting all things under their authority—the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea, and everything that swims the ocean currents.

O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

Quoted verse: When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?  –Psalm 8:3-4 (NIV)

“Story” – Marcela Nwanosike (Lincolnshire, United Kingdom) titled her story “STARRY SKIES;” here is a portion of Marcela’s story:

“One evening I sat at the table with my 12-year-old daughter and her friend, as we do almost every Tuesday.  . . .

“While we were discussing God’s greatness and power, the sky suddenly turned a beautiful pink.  Both girls ran outside to take photos.  My eyes filled with tears and my heart with adoration.  It was as if God were smiling at us and saying, ‘Yes, my children, I am the Creator.  I have made the heavens for you to wonder at and enjoy.’

“That evening we celebrated God’s presence in scripture and in nature.  Our Creator wants to speak to us every day.  When we look out our window or open our Bibles, God is there.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – The glory of creation reminds me that God cares for me.

Prayer: Creator God, thank you for all the ways you remind us of your presence.  Amen.
