Dear Lord, open our hearts and our minds to the power of Your Word, which as we read, we may know, understand, and obey Your Word for us today. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. (Author unknown)
Today’s scripture reading:
[He gives us assurance of His strength, help, victory.]
We need not fear because (1) God is with us (“I am with you”); (2) God has established a relationship with us (“I am your God”); and (3) God gives us assurance of his strength, help, and victory over sin and death. Are you aware of all the ways God has helped you? (NLT)
Isaiah 41:10-13 – Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
“See, all your angry enemies lie there, confused and humiliated. Anyone who opposes you will die and come to nothing. You will look in vain for those who tried to conquer you. Those who attack you will come to nothing. For I hold you by your right hand—I, the Lord your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you. . . .’”
Quoted verse: Moses told Joshua, “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” — Deuteronomy 31:8 (NRSV)
“Story” – Wright Peavy (Georgia, USA) titled his story “I LOST POP!” Here is a portion of Wright’s story:
“‘I lost Pop!’ my two-and-a-half-year-old grandson would say when I would leave the house to go to work. For the first few years of his life, he and his mother, our daughter, were living with my wife, Lolly and me. . . .
“That got me to thinking: Isn’t it great that our heavenly Father is never ‘lost’ to us? God never has to leave for a job or to take out the trash. We can pray at any time, and God is always there. What a comfort! Earthly fathers and grandfathers may disappoint us or not be near when needed, but God is always present.”
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY – I can never lose God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help us to remember your promise always to be with us. Be with those who feel abandoned or lonely. Amen.
Prayer Focus: SOMEONE WHO FEELS SEPARATED FROM GOD
